How do you properly track campaigns and maximize ROI in the ever-changing digital marketing landscape?

RedTrack might be the answer. A leading ad-tracking solution, RedTrack provides real-time data analytics, streamlines campaign management, and aims to improve your advertising success.

  • But does it live up to the hype?
  • Can it really simplify your marketing efforts while optimizing performance?
  • And most importantly, is it the right choice for your business?

In my comprehensive RedTrack review, I take a deep dive into these questions and more so that you have all the information you need to make an informed decision.

Let’s get started.

SMB Guide’s Verdict for RedTrack

I’m giving RedTrack an 8 out of 10, because of the learning curve required to truly take advantage of all it has to offer, and the fact that customer service wasn’t as responsive as I’ve seen from others in the space.

Overall, it’s a great tool for collecting ad tracking data, but if you’re brand new to trying to make sense of all the data, it will be overwhelming without first taking advantage of the demo they offer.

In this review of RedTrack, I’ve followed SMB Guide’s detailed criteria for evaluating the marketing attribution software.

Ad Campaign Tracking

Because I didn’t have any ads to run, I didn’t actually test this part of the tool. What you see here is an official screenshot of the dashboard from G2.

You can see the lines in green are profitable, and the ones in red are not.

RedTrack ad campaign

The cost updates run every hour unless you pay for more frequent updates.

Conversion Tracking

Thanks to things like GDPR, the iOS 14 update, and various other cookie-consider regulations, it’s hard to get accurate conversion and attribution data, unless you’re a developer.

Since RedTrack uses first-party visitor data and sales data from your customer relationship management (CRM) software, RedTrack can adequately show you the customer’s journey from ad click to conversion to properly attribute revenue to where it belongs.

Again, I didn’t personally test this part of the tool because I had no actual ads to run. It can be set up to track leads, purchases, offline events, or custom events you define yourself.

It works like this: Click comes from traffic source > gets routed to RedTrack > Set it RedTrack as a conversion.

Inconsistencies may occur in the clicks in the traffic source and clicks in RedTrack, and conversions in RedTrack and conversions in the backend of the affiliate network.

RedTrack uses quantity, cost, and metadata to track clicks and conversions. The support team can fix several consistency issues, such as:

  • Wrong dynamic parameters were put in the offer URL/postback URL.
  • Issues with the custom domain
  • Conversion cap is used
  • Duplicate postback mode is set incorrectly.
  • Protected postback is used.
  • Issues with the server
  • Different time zones are used
  • Issues with offer settings, traffic source, and campaign setup.

You won’t be able to fix issues with:

  • Different attribution windows used by different traffic sources
  • Cross-device tracking

RedTrack will always match the backend, with unbiased attribution based on your settings. You can choose API, Postback/Server-to-Server (S2S), or Pixel/script postback.

RedTrack recommends API as the most reliable conversion tracking method.

Audience and Traffic Source Analysis

Without actual data and ads to run, it was difficult to actually assess this part of the software. You’d start by going to Traffic Channels, then clicking “New from Template” if you want to add a channel via integration, such as Facebook, Google Ads, Bing, TikTok, etc.

That makes it easy to add the traffic source to your dashboard in a single click. You can also use “Other” to capture unattributed traffic.

RedTrack traffic sources

Alternatively, you can click “New from Scratch.” I don’t recommend this option unless you’re sure what you’re doing – because it requires so much more detail from you.

You must have the S2S Postback URL. You’ll need to name the Click Ref ID, and the Click Cost ID. You have the option to add additional parameters, but be able to generate a macro or token for each of them.

As a beginner who knows little about how this works from a technical perspective, I would not at all feel comfortable using the “From Scratch” method.

Attribution Modeling

RedTrack allows you to set attribution modes – from the first click, last click, or last paid click conversion. You can make any changes based on your needs.

You’re also in control of the attribution window. You can set the client-side events Attribution Window for as long as you’d like – it’s best to set it to 30 or 90 days, depending on how long you expect the first-party cookies to come in.

It’s important to note that backend integrations are limited by your raw data storage period – a minimum of one year, based on your chosen plan.

You’re free to apply different conversion path data models to better understand how channel contribution affects your campaign results.

RedTrack uses Smart Attribution and collects multiple data points to show real-time cross-browser attribution across all paid campaigns.

A/B Testing

You can use RedTrack to perform complex split-testing based on your offers or landing pages. You can add as many landing pages or offers to your funnel as you want and set different weights to each to control how often each variant is displayed.

After running the test, you can check up to 5 level reports to determine which of your funnels converts better. I’m using official screenshots from RedTrack’s help documentation because I had nothing to split test.

In the example set up, they rotate three landing pages and the offer first, landing on either the landing pages or the offer directly.

From there, the three offers are rotated through the first funnel, with different weights set as a tool to route traffic.

RedTrack ab testing

After conversions start coming in, the extended reports feature makes it easy to see which funnel works better.

User Interface and User Experience

At first glance, I was a bit overwhelmed by all my menu options and choices. But, it all makes sense – and everything is clearly labeled.

That makes it easy to navigate through all the options to create and run campaigns, connect traffic sources, see reports, etc.

Here’s what your dashboard looks like when you first create the account:

To create your first ad campaign, click Campaigns, then New and you’ll be taken to a screen that looks like this:

Integrations, Compatibility, & Supported Platforms

RedTrack has one-click integrations with over 100 networks, including Google, Facebook, TikTok, Clickbank, CrakRevenue, TopOffers, Outbrain, and more.

API access depends on the plan you choose. If you want full API access, you must pay for the top-tier plan as an affiliate or an advertiser.

RedTrack is a web-based application that works from any device with an internet connection. There’s also an iOS and Android mobile app to track your account from your smartphone.

Customer Support

RedTrack offers customer support through email, a help knowledge base, and live chat. In addition to those channels, there’s a blog, a Facebook Group to connect with other RedTrack users, and a YouTube Channel.

I found the team to be highly responsive via live chat, but since the primary support channel is email, if you can’t find the answer in the help database or other resources available, you’re stuck waiting for an answer.

When I tried to reach out via Live Chat, I was asked for my name, and connected to a specialist. I expected the connection to the agent to be fairly quick, but waited several minutes without an update from the system.

I got the agent’s name, but compared to other live chat services, I was disappointed with the response time.

RedTrack — Unique Features

Unfortunately, throughout my review of RedTrack, I wasn’t able to find any features I would consider unique from other companies offering similar services.

When I reached out to live chat to ask their thoughts on this part of my review, I was left hanging.

What The Experts Say About RedTrack

At the time of this review, RedTrack has the following ratings:

  • 2.6/5 stars at Trustpilot (10+ reviews)
  • 5/5 stars at Capterra (5+ reviews)
  • 41./5 stars at G2 (10+ reviews)

I have used many trackers over the past 5 years of running Native, Pop and Facebook traffic and I have to say I was really impressed with Red Tracks platform. Not only was there all the functionality I wanted and needed, but it was priced right. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or running a ton of traffic you will be very happily surprised with their system. On top of that their support has been amazing (better than any other platform i have been on).

Jesse S., Owner – Verified Capterra review

RedTrack has super-fast and professional support. Not only the support team comes to help, but when the issue or requests are non-standard, developers join the conversation as well. This gives me a feeling of security and makes me believe that my tasks are taken care of. Speaking the same language with support is very important to me. When it comes to features, it’s hard to pick the best ad tracker, though I pick RedTrack whenever I need to: – Stitch complex funnels together (i.e. track inbound and outbound traffic on portals) – Postback conversions to Facebook, Google Ads, and Bing Ads as RedTrack has a direct API integration with these ad networks.

Alexander P., CEO – Verified Capterra review

While so few reviews would normally turn me off, it’s not that big of a red flag for me. The company is fairly young.

It was founded in 2017, so it’s still working to grow its user base and grab market share.

FAQs

How does RedTrack work?

All RedTrack users receive a Universal Tracking Script to support multiple campaigns and websites, to allow server-side tracking. Because it operates from your domain, it uses first-party cookies only.

What’s the difference between ad serving and ad tracking?

Both ad serving and tracking play an important role in digital advertising. Ad serving is storing, delivering, and managing online ads. It’s where ad creatives are hosted and served to various online platforms.

The servers are responsible for delivering the right ads to the right people at the right time to ensure the ads align with user interests and advertiser targeting criteria.

Ad tracking involves collecting data and insights on the performance of your online advertising campaigns. It monitors whether the creative generates the desired outcome, such as clicks, impressions, conversions, etc. the more ad tracking data you collect, the more you can learn about your audience, which enables you to tailor your messaging, offers, channels, and more to improve your campaign’s effectiveness.

How do I contact RedTrack?

You can email them at [email protected], or use the live chat feature available on the website or app. It’s also possible to send them mail directly, but this is the slowest communication method.
