How we evaluate and test softwares
When testing softwares/apps, SMB Guide employs a dual approach based on free trial availability and demos. For platforms offering free trials, we test their functionalities, usability, navigation, and ease of use. In the case of tools lacking a free version or trial, we rely on in-depth research and user testimonials through software review platforms like G2, Capterra, and TrustRadius to gauge their performance and capabilities. Pricing
Voluum, like RedTrack, has two sets of pricing plans – one for individuals and businesses.
Individual plans are best for small businesses and freelancers, while Business plans are best for marketing agencies or businesses that operate several websites.
All plans have a 14-day free trial, with no credit card required.
Individual plans are as follows:
- Profit: $199/month or $2,148/year
- Scale: $349/month or $3,588/year

- Startup: $599/month or $6,468/year

Voluum is a cloud-based ad tracker that integrates with multiple ad platforms and connects all the elements of your campaigns together.
Ad Campaign Tracking
Both RedTrack and Voluum make it easy to set up and track campaigns. I called it a tie here, because it’s easy to set up your campaigns and track each of them in your dashboard.
If I had to absolutely give an edge to one platform over another, it would be RedTrack, for the simple fact that profitable campaigns are highlighted in green, and those that are losing money are in red.
That makes it easier to spot the ones that need your attention.
✅ Winner: Tie
Conversion Tracking
RedTrack uses first-party visitor data, rather than third-party cookies, which makes it easier to get accurate conversion data.
With RedTrack, you can track leads, purchases, offline events, or custom events you create yourself.
You may run into some issues with inconsistencies if you don’t set up everything correctly since RedTrack uses metadata, quantity, and cost to track clicks and conversions.
Still, the support team can help fix a variety of issues.
Voluum makes it easy to set up your conversions based on the attribution model you choose.
Since I was stuck using demo data, I couldn’t test how well the conversion tracking worked, but other users’ reviews indicate that it excels here.
It’s hard to declare one platform over the other as a winner here since they both do such a good job at monitoring campaigns and conversions.
✅ Winner: Tie
Audience and Traffic Source Analysis
Both platforms integrate with numerous networks to make adding traffic sources easy.
Plus, if there’s a traffic source you want to try that’s not already built into the system, you can create custom sources as needed.
From what I can see in the demo, both do a great job of traffic audiences and traffic sources so you can quickly and easily see which traffic sources are bringing in the most conversions and adjust your strategy accordingly.
✅ Winner: Tie
Attribution Modeling
Both platforms put you in control of your attribution modeling. RedTrack lets you choose the attribution model you want to use for each campaign, with options like first click, last click, or last paid click.
You’re in complete control of the attribution window, though they recommend using either 30 days or 90 days based on how long you expect the first-party cookies to come in.
You can also apply different conversion path models to help you understand how channel contribution influences your results.
RedTrack also uses Smart Attribution to collect multiple data points so it can show real-time cross-browser attribution across paid campaigns.
Voluum relies on multi-touch attribution, which considers all the interactions with multiple touch points before the conversion.
This includes everything from ad impressions to clicks and conversions across devices and channels.
By default, it uses the last touch attribution model but you’re free to change it based on your needs.
Options include:
- First Touch
- Linear
- Time Decay
- Position Based
✅ Winner: RedTrack
A/B Testing
Both platforms make it easy to create split-testing campaigns – adding as many landing pages or offers to your funnel as you want, assigning different weights to each of them.
The reason I declare Voluum the winner here is the process to set up split tests is a bit more straightforward and easier to understand for a novice.
✅ Winner: Voluum
Ad Fraud Detection
Both Voluum and RedTrack offer ad fraud detection to remove bots and fraudulent ad clicks from your reports.
Neither tool seems to offer any advantage over the other here, so that’s why I declare it a tie.
✅ Winner: Tie
Real-Time Reporting and Dashboards
Both RedTrack and Voluum boast real-time reporting with dashboards that show the information
They are easy to understand, with detailed reports for each campaign. Because the reports and dashboards are fairly intuitive, it’s a tie here, too.
✅ Winner: Tie
Data Privacy and Security
Both RedTrack and Voluum take your data privacy and security seriously. CentralNic Poland, an EU-registered company, owns and operates Voluum.
Because of this, the data collection process falls under the GDPR legislation, which is the most restrictive in the world.
Because of this, your data is protected by the highest level of legal security in the world.
RedTrack, based in Vilnius, Lithuania, is also an EU-registered company subject to GDPR legislation, which ensures data protection is the strictest in the world.
They even go so far as to show you how your data is protected to help you maintain your own GDPR compliance.
✅ Winner: Tie
Customizable Metrics and KPIs
Both platforms make it easy to customize your reporting metrics and KPIs based on your business needs.
Because of this, neither Voluum nor RedTrack offers an advantage over the other.
✅ Winner: Tie
User Experience and User Interface
Both tools give a solid user experience with a clear and easy-to-understand user interface.
The only reason I give Voluum the edge here is that some of the more advanced features in RedTrack are harder to find within the site’s navigation system.
That makes it harder for users to fully leverage the software, especially for beginning users.
✅ Winner: Voluum
Integrations & API Capabilities
Not surprisingly, we have another tie here, too. That’s because both platforms integrate with well over 100 networks in just one click.
Both platforms also offer full API access, depending on the plan you choose.
✅ Winner: RedTrack
Supported Platforms
Voluum and RedTrack are both cloud-based platforms that can be accessed from any device that has an internet connection.
Both tools also offer mobile apps for iOS and Android. The reason RedTrack is the winner here is because it also offers a desktop app for Windows and Mac.
There is no Voluum desktop app available.
✅ Winner: RedTrack
Customer Support
Both platforms offer stellar customer support. The difference between the two is that you really only have email and live chat with RedTrack.
There is still a comprehensive knowledge base, Facebook Group, and a YouTube channel to help you with self-service options.
Voluum offers additional support channels, like Zoom and Whatsapp, so that’s why they win.
But, it’s still worth noting that your level of support and SLA will depend on the plan you choose.
That means, the less you pay for the service, the longer you’ll wait for support.
✅ Winner: Voluum
Pricing
Though both platforms offer separate plans for affiliates and advertisers, the fact remains that RedTrack offers many of the same features at a lower price point overall.
Both are big names in the ad tracking space, but Voluum costs more. Yes, there are more plans with Voluum to accommodate larger businesses, but it can be cost-prohibitive for smaller businesses.
✅ Winner: RedTrack
Scalability
While both RedTrack and Voluum have multiple plans to choose from and allow you to upgrade as your business grows, Voluum has more plans to choose from overall.
You’re much less likely to completely outgrow the Voluum platform – but that’s not to say RedTrack can’t keep up for a long time.
It really depends on whether you’re an affiliate marketer or a digital agency running ads for others.
✅ Winner: Voluum
Standout Features of RedTrack
RedTrack shares many of the same features as Voluum, but offers everything at a lower price point.
More advanced features are hiding within the dashboard if you know where to find them and how to use them.
This is a double-edged sword because if you’re new to ad tracking, it will be difficult to fully leverage RedTrack to the best of its ability.
Standout Features of Voluum
Voluum offers shared reports and white-label shared reports on certain plans, which is not an option for RedTrack.
If you’re a digital marketing agency in charge of ad campaigns for other companies, you’ll want to use Voluum to more easily share data with your clients.
RedTrack vs. Voluum: SMB Guide’s Verdict
