Job Posting and Candidate Sourcing
Creating a job position in Breezy HR is…as the name indicates, a breeze. Breezy HR lets you categorize your candidates into two major categories: Positions and Pools.
While a “Position” is a specific job role you’re actively trying to fill, a “Pool” is more of a collection of potential candidates you’re holding on to for future roles.
Think of the “Position” as your immediate recruitment target, while the “Pool” is your strategic move for long-term talent acquisition.
To post a job, you’d first need to create a position which you can do with just a couple of clicks. All you need to do is click on the Position/Pools option on the menu bar at the left and select + Add Position to get started.
Breezy HR’s position creation process consists of 7 steps
- Details – Name, location, details, salary, tag, and other information about the position
- Description – Write a description about what the position would entail. You can also choose a description template if you need help and edit it to suit your needs.
- Application Form – Decide how the candidates can apply for the position and what information is to be mandatorily provided.
- Pipeline – Customize the stages of your hiring process and automate actions based on triggers set for each stage.
- Screening – Customize the additional add-ons chosen based on your requirements for your screening process.
- Advertise – Select the platforms on which you want to advertise and post the job opening.
- Hiring Team – Decide the members of your hiring team.
In the Positions / Pools section, you get to decide who can see your job posting and what platforms to display it on. For job openings, you can make your job posts entirely open to the public and share them across various platforms.
If there is a scope for a promotion or an opportunity for transfer/internal hiring, Breezy HR allows you to create posts limited to internal members only.
Additionally, you can also edit any existing position and change the accessibility settings at any given time.
One of the highlights is that the application process of Breezy HR uses automatic disqualification. It saves you time by automatically disqualifying any applications made without a résumé.
From the Position/Pools section you can easily locate active, drafted (inactive), closed and archived positions and change their status as and when needed. You can also share the position automatically on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
Moreover, for all your active positions, you can promote and publish them on different platforms simply by clicking on the Promote button.
You’d get a list of options to choose from, you can simply pay for them and post your job across different platforms at once.
However, during the testing process, I did find a glitch where the archived positions were not displayed even after the filter was applied.
All your positions, regardless of their status, will always be displayed on the menu under the Positions / Pools section.
The position of Accountant has been archived and yet it is not being displayed on the screen despite applying the Include Archived filter.
However, if you wish to change the position status, you can directly click on the position on the menu and change the status from the status section.
But when you navigate to the Positions / Pools section again, none of the positions or pools are listed on your screen.
The only solution to this glitch is if you refresh your page. Breezy HR’s Candidate Sourcing function is quite simple.
Once you’ve posted a job, it’s easy to see all the incoming applications for that particular role, allowing you to see the big picture of your pipeline.
The Pipeline is visualized as a Kanban-style board, which simplifies the tracking process through a drag-and-drop process.
You also have the option to source candidates manually and give them a good referral if you know them personally.
Breezy HR allows you to directly import their resumé, and you can manually recommend the candidate for any position in the company along with some personal comments and remarks about them.
All the unseen resumés are marked with a small green tab on the top left corner of each card in the Pipeline view (Kanban boards).
The Candidates view is simply a list view where the unseen resumés have a green mark at the left side of every candidate’s profile.
You can also get detailed insight into each candidate’s profile. The individual profile of every candidate is segregated into different sections that allow you to quickly skim through and search for the information you’re looking for.
Candidate Database and Universal Search
Similar to the Positions and Pools section, Breezy HR has a dedicated page for candidates. Simply put, it’s your own database for all your candidates that gives you an extensive view of all the applicants you’re considering hiring.
Now let’s look at the different ways you can use the database:
- Apart from the open job postings, you can directly source and manually add candidates. All you need to do is import their CV, add their name, email, and comments (if you have any) and voila!
- You can also import a CSV file to source multiple candidates for a data-heavy recruitment campaign.
- There is also a Breezy HR Chrome extension through which you can directly import a resumé from other platforms.
However, I ran some tests to check how the Chrome extension works and discovered two things which didn’t give it a green light.
It prompts you to sign in every single time you use the extension. Moreover, as soon as you sign in, it always shows “No Candidates Found” with a frowning face.
So Breezy HR’s Chrome extension is pretty much redundant because it’s non-functional.
The Applicants section in the navigation bar displays the aggregate count of new applications received through your job postings.
You can see the applications and their CVs and attachments, segregated under different positions.
Next up, is the Universal Search feature in Breezy HR. Operating on a large scale with dozens of applications flowing regularly?
Having multiple open positions and applicants with similar names? All you need to do is punch in the keyword in the search box, and all relevant results will appear on your screen.
The Candidates section has its own dedicated search feature accompanied by various filter options. You can use these filtering options and the search feature to fish out the candidates with the particular kind of skill set that you’re looking for.
Furthermore, you can choose what information you’d like displayed on your screen by using the Candidates type and Columns section to make your search easier.
Resumé Management and Screening
The resumé management approach within Breezy HR is pretty simple but limited. As previously stated, Breezy HR simplifies the process of importing resumes into its database.
Its system is designed to automatically populate the appropriate sections of a candidate’s profile using details extracted from their CV.
However, the auto-fill feature is not flawless. While the auto-fill feature works fine with CVs imported from Indeed or LinkedIn, it doesn’t work well with file attachments.
The content appropriated to different fields from the attached file is not accurate.
If you take a closer look at the image above, you’ll see that even achievements and Educational qualifications have been clustered along with work experience.
Plus, there is no separate option for the candidates to upload their cover letter separately.
Regardless of its accuracy, Breezy HR still allows you to attach documents and files, make notes, mark comments, create scorecards, check references, and even get them verified.
The Applicants sections mentioned previously can also be used for screening applicants. You can easily navigate through different applications and screen their profiles based on merits.
Although, while using this page for screening profiles, you’ll randomly experience a glitch where the actions in the Change status buttons will not work unless you refresh the page.
Applicant Tracking and Candidate Management
Breezy HR has a pretty simple candidate tracking and management system. The Candidates section is the central powerhouse for it.
Want to check out a profile? Simply click on it and whoosh, you have all the info you need.
In the candidate’s profile, you have control over all their recruitment updates. Have an important email for the candidate?
Simply draft your email within the platform and send it off. You can even send SMSs to the candidates for quick updates.
Additionally, you can also schedule interviews or assign tasks from the same place.
Candidate Evaluation and Assessment
Breezy HR’s assessment capabilities are fairly typical. Some of the noteworthy features are the questionnaires, scorecards, and team scorecards.
With questionnaires, you can set different difficulties and categorize them with scorecards.
In the Scorecard section, you can provide your insights and thoughts on the candidate. The Team Scorecards section shows the overall rating of the candidate among your hiring team with their thoughts on the candidate.
The key highlight of the scorecard evaluation is that only members from the hiring committee/team can see the information.
Although, the lack of font styling and formatting is a drawback. Text formatting can help you highlight the keywords and save a lot of time, but even such a simple option is not available.
User Interface and User Experience
The UI and UX of Breezy HR are fairly pleasing and intuitive, offering a clean and appealing design that bolsters user-friendliness and productivity.
When you create a new account and start using Breezy HR for the first time, the Home page (dashboard) offers various instructions and tutorial videos to help you understand the tool better.
Plus, using Breezy HR isn’t exactly rocket science. Regardless of your proficiency, you can easily use and get adapted to its neatly organized sections and features.
You can also get in touch with customer support any time to clarify a query or learn about something you’re interested in.
The Home page (Dashboard) is another unique feature. It acts as your personal command center where you can see all your pending tasks, upcoming meetings, a list of new candidates, and the status of all job positions.
You can find all your communication emails and messages in the Inbox section, eliminating the need to switch between different apps and devices to send an update or check your conversation with the candidates.
With the help Tasks section, you can plan your tasks and actions in advance. These tasks are prominently visible on your dashboard to make sure you don’t miss any important aspect of your work.
However, there is one drawback here. Once you mark a task as Complete, there is no going back. You can’t change it, no matter what.
The only workaround is to delete and re-create the task, which is a lot of hassle if you accidentally mark a task complete.
Breezy HR’s Calendar section is very simple. You can see all your upcoming events and scheduled meetings on your calendar.
Additionally, you can take actions such as viewing the candidate and providing feedback to them.
Or if you decide to reschedule or cancel the meeting, simply click on the event and do as you please.
The Reports section is the real catch. With simple clicks, you can obtain a 360-degree view of all the hiring activities.
The graphical data is color coded to help you grasp the most information in the least possible time.
Integrations, Compatibility, and Supported Platforms
Breezy HR has remarkable integration and compatibility options, enabling effortless connections with other HR systems, payroll processing tools, assessment programs, and communication platforms to amplify your recruitment process.
Breezy HR has a wide range of free and paid job advertisements. You can simply choose the ones you wish to move forward with, purchase if you choose to go with the paid platforms, and voila, your job position is advertised.
Looking for options to conduct Background checks on your potential candidates? Searching for a reliable SSO tool?
Simply access the Recruiting preferences section from the Settings menu and find what you’re looking for with advanced filtering options.
You can also integrate your Slack account to increase productivity and use Zoom to organize virtual meetings. Furthermore, if you don’t see a tool you’re looking for, you can request it with a simple click.
Breezy HR is a web-based tool which can be accessed on both Windows and macOS devices. Regardless of what operating system you use or prefer, you can seamlessly hire and manage your candidates.
Breezy HR extends its functionality to mobile platforms with apps available for Android and iPhone users. Although the mobile version offers the convenience of access, features like the Dashboard, Applicants, and Reports sections are missing.
The web application continues to be the prime platform for its full functionality.
Customer Support
Breezy HR does not have round-the-clock customer support service. Only the users with the Business plan get priority support, while the wait time is standard for others.
Breezy HR offers only live chat and email support. However, there are some self-help options that answer some of the FAQs.
However, in my personal experience, customer support takes longer than the anticipated wait time. On a regular working day and during regular working hours, the estimated time of response was shown to be 15 minutes but it took more than 30 minutes for them to respond to my messages.
Moreover, If you’ve not subscribed to the Business plan and you’re stuck with a query or an issue on a weekend, you’d have to wait till Monday before your query can even be acknowledged.
