In my comprehensive review, I’ll answer questions about features, pricing, cost-effectiveness, and more.

This way, you can make an informed decision about which ad-tracking solution you should use.

SMB Guide’s Verdict for Triple Whale

I am giving this platform an 9 out of 10 because it’s not usable for all websites or online stores – and billing scales with your revenue.

Other platforms offer similar tools but can be used outside of Shopify and charge based on features, events, etc. rather than revenue.

In this review of Triple Whale, I’ve followed SMB Guide’s detailed criteria for evaluating the marketing attribution software.

Ad Campaign Tracking

Because I don’t have a Shopify store to connect to the platform, I could not test everything directly and couldn’t use my own account dashboard to create screenshots of the platform.

What you see here is official screenshots from G2.

Triple Whale ad tracking

You’ll connect all your data sources – Facebook, Google Ads, Google Analytics, etc.

Conversion Tracking

Triple Whale conversion tracking uses a proprietary pixel that uses first-party data, to account for a future without third-party cookies.

Triple Whale conversion tracking

Once you install that Pixel, conversions are tracked accordingly.

Audience and Traffic Source Analysis

Triple Whale allows you to connect multiple audiences and traffic sources, so you can easily track everything in one place. You’ll spend some time setting up some UTM parameters for proper tracking.

Attribution Modeling

TripleWhale allows you to choose from several attribution models based on what you need.

These include:

  • Fist Click
  • Last Click
  • Linear All/Paid
  • Triple Attribution: assigns order credit to any channel that customer clicked prior to making the purchase
  • Triple Attribution + FB Views
  • Total Impact: Proprietary to Triple Whale, this uses first party data, zero party data, and their algorithm to assign attribution based on the entire customer journey – survey data, ad impressions, clicks, website visits, email opens, etc.

A/B Testing

I was a little confused here, because there doesn’t seem to be anything in the help materials or knowledge base to indicate that split testing is a possibility. Yet, there’s plenty of content on the company blog about the importance of split testing, types of split tests, etc.

I’m waiting to hear back from the company now, and will update this content to reflect the answers I get.

User Interface and User Experience

I wasn’t able to test the platform personally, but from what I was able to see, the user experience and dashboard are easy to use, and intuitive.

Considering prospective customers have the option to book a demo with someone on the sales team before becoming a customer, they can see and evaluate the platform for themselves before signing up.

Once you sign up, you can get a guided walkthrough that will help you get set up and running – from within the Triple Whale Knowledge base.

Integrations, Compatibility, & Supported Platforms

TripleWhale is a cloud-based platform accessible from any device with an internet connection.

Triple Whale integrations

There is an iOS and Android mobile app available, too.

Triple Whale integrates with a variety of third-party applications, including Klaviyo, Postscript, Recharge, Okendo, Gorgias, KNOCommerce, Amazon, and Bing.

Customer Support

Triple Whale offers several customer support channels and resources. In addition to email there’s also a knowledgebase and blog that help you learn more about the tool and the ad tracking industry itself.

I found that customer support was easy to speak to, and was able to book a demo for a few hours later that day. The only issue was, I didn’t get to actually do the demo – I was pushed off to a manager and asked to book another time because they weren’t comfortable with demoing the software with me for the purpose of this review.

That didn’t work well for my schedule, but I will update this review with more information after I complete the actual demo.

What the Experts Say About Triple Whale

At the time of this review, Triple Whale has the following ratings:

  • 4.5/5 stars at G2 (450+ reviews)

It provides a single source for tons of advanced ecommerce store insights that you simple cannot get from any other platform. I have not used anything quite like it. Google Analytics doesn’t come close to providing as much valuable data that is actually actionable in most cases. Being able to integrate all ad platforms and the Shopify store data to get blended metrics across channels is incredible.

Bailey W., Digital Marketing Analyst – Verified G2 Review

The great news is Triple Whale has tons and tons of features that, in theory, would be very helpful across marketing, finance, and operations disciplines in an organization like ours (DTC ecomm).

Triple Whale has solutions for MTA (multi-touch attribution) & media measurement, financial forecasting, creative learning & optimization, and pseudo-CRM functions like LTV, cohort analysis, and sales cycle insights.

I have no doubt that many organizations that commit to adopting and really learning Triple Whale will find the tool useful.
