As a platform designed to streamline customer interaction via live chat, chatbots, and email integration, Social Intents is a game-changer.
But is it the right tool for your company? Our in-depth Social Intents review will answer your questions to make your decision easier.
Let’s get right into the specifics.
SMB Guide’s Verdict for Social Intents
At SMB Guide, we use a comprehensive set of evaluation criteria to keep our reviews detailed and unbiased for our readership.
Social Intents scores an 8.8 out of 10. It’s the integrations (or lack thereof) that really ding the score for us. While it’s possible to use Zapier to connect more apps, that comes at an additional cost.
There’s an API, but that usually means a developer needs to come in to help you. It’s also the complexity of setting up the ChatGPT to get the chatbot working that keeps this from getting a perfect score.

Real-Time Messaging & Canned Responses
Messaging in real time works quite well, though from my testing URL, I didn’t receive any notifications. It’s only when I went back to the dashboard to start adding canned responses that I saw my message sitting in the queue.
Canned Responses are known as Shortcuts in Social Intents. To add them, navigate to “Live Chat > Shortcuts” in the menu. Then click “Add shortcut.”
I wasn’t able to test this with my trial, but it seems like all you have to do is name the message, type it out, and choose the shortcut you want to use to display the message.
Live Chat AI & NLP
You’ll have to spend some time setting things up with ChatGPT before you can use the chatbot features. You must have an OpenAI ChatGPT account and your Social Intents account.
You’ll need to create your OpenAI API key in your account, then add that API key into your Social Intents chatbot settings. There’s an extensive step-by-step guide to help you.
Customizable Chat Widgets
From the Social Intents menu, navigate to “My Apps.” Your Live Chat app will be there. Click “Edit Settings.”
There you will be able to name the chat, choose the tab type, color, logo, and where to email chat transcripts. The only way you can hide the co-branding is to upgrade to the highest paid plan.
You can also customize the widget text start message, and choose whether you want to collect information, or display data consent text, groups or department text.
You’ll also be able to set up a proactive popup message, a time out messaging, a waiting message, a list of default quick replies, end message, offline message, etc.
Visitor Tracking and Analytics
The main Social Intents dashboard displays all the analytics data for your account.
You’ll get information about the number of active chats, chats in queue, closed chats, missed chats, average chat duration, average response time, longest wait, longest chat, and offline messages.
This gives you all the information you need to adjust your business processes and strategy accordingly.
User Interface and User Experience
I found the Social Intents platform incredibly easy to use. After signing up, it was just a few clicks, and I was able to get the code to install on my website or the direct link to my chat.
From there, I was taken to the dashboard, where I could easily customize the live chat box, add agents, etc.
Integrations and Compatibility
Social Intents is a cloud-based platform that can be accessed from any internet-connected device.
Even though there is no mobile app, you can access it from your phone with its web browser.
Integrations include:
- Slack
- Microsoft Teams
- Dialogflow
- WordPress
- Mailchimp
- Webhooks
- Rest API
- Zapier
Zapier is a third-party tool with limited function on the free plan. Depending on what you need, you may have to invest in a paid Zapier subscription to get the most out of the integration.
Customer Support
Social Intents has an extensive knowledge base accessible from the main dashboard.
There, you can find answers to your most frequently asked questions. There’s also a live chat feature that will put you in touch with a customer service representative.
Social Intents — Unique Features
Social Intents allows you to have custom pre-sales forms, file sharing, and more. While other tools offer these features, it’s not universal across all live chat tools.
