SMB Guide’s Verdict for Tailor Brands
I’m giving this one a 7.5 out of 10 because I was really upset that I couldn’t get to the pricing information without having to sign up as a customer and go through the entire process up to checkout to figure out what I was going to have to pay.
While the process is fairly simple and it was quick to find out name availability, I also deducted points for the fact that you can’t register anything other than LLC.
Other than that, it’s fairly on par with the other companies in this space, with similar price points, and you’ll see my rating is in line with those companies, too.

Tailor Brands offers three plans – a free option and two paid ones. I found it highly frustrating that I had to go through the process of starting an LLC and signing up for an account before I was given access to the plans and pricing.
I reflected this in my final score because it’s a major disadvantage for user-friendliness and the overall customer experience.

Business Formation Services
Tailor Brands makes it possible to file an LLC in any state in the United States. If you’re looking to form a corporation (either C Corporation or S Corporation), you’ll have to use another company.
Processing Time
With the lite plan, it will take up to 14 business days to receive your filing. If you upgrade to another plan, or pay for the expedited processing separately, it will be filed within 2 business days.
However, the actual time it takes depends heavily on the state you’re filing in. Some states take longer to process than others.
Registered Agent Services and Costs
Tailor Brands offers optional registered agent services for $199/year.
You can choose to appoint your own registered agent during registration or opt for their services.
Name Availability Search
When you first decide to start a business with Tailor Brands, you’ll be asked to enter your desired business name.
Since this is the name I use in SC and I will be moving the company to NC, I decided to check it here.
Within a few seconds, I was notified the name was available. (It’s only because I haven’t registered it yet.) Based on this, I would assume that anyone could find out if their desired name was available in a matter of minutes.
Online Document Access
I wasn’t actually able to test this since I didn’t form my business with this company. But, from the company’s help documentation, I can see that once you finish the filing, you can use your online account to download your LLC documents.
Once you log into your account, click the LLC button in the top left on your computer, or tap the top right corner on your phone. On the next page, click or tap “View Documents” to get a list of the documents available for you to download.
Money-Back Guarantees
Because Tailor Brands is a “one-stop shop,” their refund policy depends on the product or service you’re using. Because of this, you have to email the support to request a refund.
Due to the nature of business filings, it’s highly unlikely that you would be able to receive a refund on the filing itself.
Customer Support
Tailor Brands offers customer support via live chat, email, and telephone. The team was responsive, and hold times were reasonable.
They can help you with all the business formation services in addition to their design services.
