SMB Guide’s Verdict for Sticky Password

Our rating of 7.6 out of 10 comes primarily from the fact that you’re limited only to Google Authenticator for 2FA, there are no one-time password features, the interface could use some updating, there could be plugins/extensions for other browsers, and support is limited to email only for premium users.

Multi-factor Security & Authentication

You must first enable 2FA in your account settings from the desktop app. At this time, Google Authenticator is the only app that works.

One-time Passwords

I couldn’t find anything about one-time passwords within the Sticky Password app. I’m unsure if this is due to user error or because it doesn’t exist.

Nothing in the help documentation seemed to point to it being an option.

Password Capture and Generation

When you sign into a new account not saved in Sticky Passwords, it will offer to save it for you automatically. It separates your web passwords from your app passwords and makes it easy to add passwords to your vault manually.

When you create a new account, the password generator gives you the option to set the password length up to 99 characters long (though many systems won’t support passwords that long.

You can tick boxes to use capital letters, lower case letters, numbers, and special characters.

Password Sharing

Sharing logins and passwords with other Sticky Password users is straightforward. I tested this by sharing a login with a friend.

Immediately after I shared the login, she got an email from Sticky Password outlining the process to download the app and set up the account access so she could get access.

There are two options for sharing permissions:

  • Limited rights: The recipient can only use the password without the ability to edit it, share it further, or revoke the original sharer’s access.
  • Full rights: The recipient gains equal control over the shared password, including the capabilities to edit, further share, and even revoke the original sharer’s access.

While the password-sharing feature is user-friendly and enhances secure collaboration, it doesn’t match the sophistication of some of the other password managers, such as Dashlane, which allows sharing secure notes and files with multiple users simultaneously.

An option to hide the actual password from the recipient, similar to a feature offered by LastPass, would be a valuable addition, allowing users to employ shared passwords without seeing them.

User Interface and User Experience

I downloaded the software from the website, clicked through a few screens, and had to generate my own master password (without using the StickyPassword app) to create my account.

It did give me a rating of how strong my password was. Using my standard password convention that uses a collection of numbers, capital letters, and special characters, I received a 96% strong rating.

It makes you confirm your master password, and click a box to ensure you understand that if you lose that password, there is no way to recover your account since the master password isn’t stored anywhere.

The features are easy to use, but the interface is outdated. It would be nice to see secure file storage, that’s included in many other competing products.

Integrations and Compatibility

Sticky Password is available for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS. I didn’t think browser extensions were available until after I installed the desktop application.

At the end, I could choose to install an extension for Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge if I wanted to.

Customer Support

There is limited customer support available. The FAQ on the website, with email support available for Premium users. Email support got back to me in under than 24 hours, which I found impressive since most other email support requires a minimum of 24 hours.

The FAQ page is divided into sections, with clear explanations and screenshots where appropriate, so you can solve many issues on your own without reaching out to support.

Sticky Password — Unique Features

Support is available in many languages outside of English, such: Spanish, German, French, Japanese, Dutch, and Russian, to name a few.

This is far more than what you see available in the competition.

What the Experts Say About Sticky Password

At the time of this writing, Sticky Password had the following reviews:

  • G2 rating: 4.0/5 (10+ ratings)
  • Capterra rating: 4.6/5 (30+ ratings)
  • Google Play rating: 4.6/5 (9,246)

In today’s requisite high-security world, the days of using “password” or other simplistic passwords is asking for identity theft. It’s rare to encounter software that seamlessly melds simplicity and high security but Sticky Password has done just that for several years without any major glitch. Now it’s easy to use complex 15-character minimum passwords on all web sites.

Alan Z., Grafton Township Assessor – Capterra verified review

Instead of using the same password all over the internet, I now have one for every single account I own. Besides, I have a clear overview of all the software, apps, plugins, subscriptions and online courses I purchased. I am much more aware of all the digital things I bought, and as a bonus of obtaining Sticky Password, I am more conscious of what I have and thus make use of it or unsubscribe.
