Multi-factor Security & Authentication

Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your account and reduces the risk of a breach. Users can easily open their NordPass vault using biological features such as fingerprints or facial recognition.

NordPass has certain additional security elements, such as:

You can configure your multi-factor authentication (MFA)  after signing up and verifying a code sent to your mail. NordPass then lets you add an authentication app or a physical security key to your account.

NordPass employs the more “future-proof” XChaCha20 encryption algorithm to safeguard your sensitive information.

To safeguard your data even in case of a breach, NordPass employs zero-knowledge architecture which encrypts all of your data locally rather than on NordPass’s servers.

This means that no one can view your passwords or other critical information, and your data will remain secure at all times.

However, you can still retrieve your account if you forget your master password. For this, NordPass provides a Recovery Code option, which is unavailable in many other password managers.

One standout feature of NordPass is the ability to remove your NordPass items from the clipboard at a set time. You can select durations ranging from 30 seconds to never to clear the clipboard.

Once you clear your device’s clipboard, applications with clipboard access cannot access your passwords.

One-time Passwords

The NordPass app manages passwords and serves as an authenticator app. With the NordPass authenticator,  you can choose two-factor authentication for any login information stored in the app.

Users who have 2FA enabled accounts will be required to input a time-based one-time password (TOTP) after entering their password.

NordPass subscribers can securely access the verification code from within the NordPass app by entering their biometric information instead of receiving OTPs via SMS.

This helps further avoid smishing scams to retrieve personal to financial information.

Password Capture and Generation

When you first get registered and start setting up your NordPass account, it prompts you to import all passwords saved in your browser immediately.

It also allows importing a CSV file or importing data from another password manager. NordPass allows the storage of passwords, secure notes, personal information, and credit card information.

The NordPass password generator allows you to generate strong and safe passwords. When you join up for a new service, you can have a newly established password auto-filled by NordPass.

If you want to share something private, the link is live for a full day.

You can quickly share passwords for all credentials with others and distribute these credentials to other NordPass members and grant full or limited access to the recipients.

Full access enables recipients to view and modify shared objects, whereas limited access prevents the recipient from editing or copying the shared item.
