Based on how we evaluate video testimonial software, we give StoryPrompt a 7.6/10. The fact that it lacks performance and analytics and that I experienced issues with customer support negatively influenced this score.

I also penalized it for the requirement to use Zapier for integrations rather than native options – and the fact that it is not an option on all plans.

Video Quality and Presentation

Ultimately, video quality and presentation depend on the plan you use. For instance, the free plan leaves your videos watermarked and only available in SD.

Of course, it also depends on the quality of the equipment used to record the original video, too. But, since most laptops and smartphones are capable of recording in HD or full HD, it means that videos on the free plan will be compressed and quality degraded.

Ease of Capture and Uploading

I tested this on my computer and Android device. Capturing the video was as easy as clicking the link that was shared from the campaign.

I had the option to turn on a script and use AI to write it, which I think would be nice for guiding people and creating a more professional video in the end.

I could choose between sharing my face or my screen. I had a higher quality video on my cell phone than my laptop, but that didn’t really matter because the plan I’m on means that the final product is SD.

Afterward, I was prompted to upload a photo to accompany the video review, enter my name, job title, and rating, and choose whether or not the video could be used for marketing purposes.

Performance Analytics and Tracking

I didn’t see anything related to performance analytics and tracking in the dashboard. I clicked the campaign itself, and individual video responses (I did three – one from my phone, one from my computer with my face on video, and one from my computer sharing my screen.)

When I searched the help documentation – I didn’t find any video tutorials for it. I didn’t see anything in the blog that helped either.

Accessibility and Responsiveness

The video content is ideally viewable and functional across all screen sizes, operating systems, and browsers. This ensures users can access and engage with the videos regardless of their device or browser preference. 

Videos are mobile responsive, meaning that they will automatically adjust to the device’s screen size.

User Interface and User Experience

I found the UI incredibly easy to navigate and understand. Everything is well laid out on the left hand side, with it clear that the Video Studio is where you go to edit your videos.

The Wall of Love is where all the videos are stored and displayed. Build a New Prompt is where you go to set up new campaigns for video requests.

Integrations and Compatibility

It appears that integrations are only available through Zapier, which isn’t an option on all plans. And depending on the number of integrations and the specific apps you need to integrate, you may need to pay for a separate Zapier subscription.

Customer Support

I was a little confused by the customer support. There’s a live chat box that suggests you search the help documentation there, and says the team can help if needed.

But when I searched the documentation for help with the analytics and tracking because it wasn’t obvious in the dashboard, it didn’t pull up relevant information.

And when I didn’t find what I was looking for, I tried to reach out to the team for clarification and to test the team’s responsiveness, but I couldn’t.

Maybe it’s because live chat wasn’t available, but there wasn’t anything that indicated that – it just looks broken. I was prompted to ask the community, but doing so meant that I had to join the StoryPrompt Thrive – which though it only took a click, was a bit annoying.

Why do I need to join something else? I do like that they had resources available on trust-based marketing, a blog, video tutorials, and help documentation though.

StoryPrompt — Unique Features

The most unique feature is the fact that you can use AI to generate scripts to help customers know what they want to say. You can also use it to generate transcripts based on the recorded audio.

On some plans, you can also use AI assist to automatically remove “uhs” and “ums” from the videos.
